Shannon MacDonald is a senior advisor to executives and an expert on health system policy. With over 34 years of professional experience, Shannon leads multi-disciplinary consulting teams at EY Canada, specializing in the digital health sector. She excels at integrating diverse services to achieve better outcomes for clients, having managed significant transformations in governments and healthcare organizations across Canada.
Shannon holds the designations of Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA) and ICD.D, and has a Master of Health Science (MHSc) in Health Administration. Her extensive experience includes strategic planning, facilitating client sessions, and project leadership and governance. Shannon's work focuses on driving innovations and transformations in an inclusive and citizen-centred manner.
In addition to her role at EY, Shannon serves as the Board Chair for the University of Prince Edward Island and is a board member of the Institute of Clinical Evaluative Studies. She also chairs the Atlantic Women's Venture Fund, supporting the inclusion of women in the start-up community, venture investment community, and angel fund networks.
Prior to joining EY, Shannon was a Managing Director and Client Account Lead at Accenture for five years. During her 27 years at Deloitte, she held various roles, including Chief Inclusion Officer, National Health Care Leader, and Managing Partner — Atlantic. Shannon's professional uniqueness lies in combining deep sector knowledge and functional expertise with a passion for teamwork and inclusion, driving growth and client satisfaction.
Outside of her professional life, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family. Her three grown children are pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. She and her husband David love to travel and explore.
